And it's worse when it happens when you're at a social function and desperately want to get some relief. While antacid tablets will help ease the discomfort, certain foods also help. Here are some foods that will help... If you thought that oatmeal was just for breakfast, think again.

Have a small bowl of oatmeal when you feel uneasy . It eases the symptoms of acid reflux almost immediately. Another effective remedy is eating a banana. Low in acid content, this fruit works wonders at treating heartburn.
Chewing on a piece of bread is also said to help ease discomfort.
Green vegetables like asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower and spinach can also help.
Take a piece of ginger and eat it raw or add it to warm water and drink. Its anti-inflammatory properties are great for heartburn.
Melons and watermelons are also said to help you treat heartburn.
The high water content in celery makes it an ideal candidate for treating heartburn.Simply chew on the leaves when you feel uneasy . The same goes for parsley .
